Thanks to Facebook, our birthdays are widely celebrated. This season seems to hold more than its share of my friends. Happy Birthday to an old friend of my blogging as The Chattanoogan.

Happy Birthday To The 19th Amendment

“The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
“Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.”
So reads the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which became law in all states ninety-five years ago today. This monument in Knoxville commemorates Tennessee suffragists Lizzie Crozier French of that city, Anne Dallas Dudley of Nashville, and Elizabeth Avery Meriwether of Memphis. Their efforts and those of many others saw Tennessee become the thirty-sixth state to ratify the amendment on August 18, 1920. Certification from the state legislature reached Washington, DC eight days later, giving Americans universal suffrage.

Snowy Days From The Chattanoogan

Snow falls upon white lace Friday at 2 Northshore. Congratulations to greenspaces for receiving the first LEED Platinum certification in Tennessee. To learn more about Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and what efforts went into this achievement, please follow this link.

Chattanooga awakened to a dusting of snow Saturday. The rosette is crafty repurposing of a zipper that she found on Etsy and her winter coat a thrifted Belk's of Charlotte original.

The Revival Of Vintage, Part IV

Having just returned from this visit to Chattanooga made it all the nicer to meet the proprietors of that city's Vintage Love at The Goat Farm.
It bears repeating: regular postings to The Chattanoogan ceased in July 2010, yet more than 400 page views were recorded during the past thirty days. Chance encounters both here and there cannot account for all such traffic. Chattanooga remains a deep well of style and a wonderful opportunity for street fashion blogging. Anyone?

On The Road: Chattanooga

Lisa Cutler's amazing handbags first came to my attention three years ago at the 4 Bridges Arts Festival in Chattanooga, where she makes them from a variety of re-purposed fabrics, all with bungee cord handles for a comfortable surprise that guarantees notice. My sweetie carries a red one. Another is pictured over her friend's shoulder, but Lisa's favorite burden arrived in January. Congratulations and welcome!

In Little Five Points: A Visitor From Chattanooga

In eighteen months of blogging as The Chattanoogan, this stylish lady and her friend in navy from the previous post somehow escaped my notice. Today, that oversight was corrected here in Atlanta.

Far from the ocean, her navy and white look none the less put me in mind of all things nautical and summery.

Before Atlanta Street Fashion, my first effort was The Chattanoogan. Those eighteen months offered a wonderful lesson in blogging street fashions. Its popularity endures to the tune of 100+ page views per month. Please join me in this retrospective of city cyclists, thrifted goodness, charming mash ups and old fashioned elegance from our neighbor city to the north.

Chattanooga Revisited

IMG_1244
Sunday's email brought notification of The Chattanoogan's 27,100th page view. Yes, even in my absence, the clicks carry on to the tune of three per day. Such evergreen popularity is flattering and this lovely Monday afternoon gave me ample opportunity to return the favor. From the North Shore to St. Elmo, inspiring looks were everywhere to be seen.
