I would raise a glass to you still
And the opium whirl
Of the green-gold girl of the summer

Atlanta Bicycle Commuting

dress and belt: Anthropologie
shoes: DSW
necklace: gift from a friend
Being caught in the deluge from this lowering sky lent me a temporary feeling of solidarity with bicycle commuters. While my car-to-MARTA-to-bike solution has found a multitude of stylish folk for the both blogs, I remain a fair weather cyclist. To those for whom such risks are daily fare, the rewards are equally dramatic. A long-time friend of the blogs encountered Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter during her BeltLine ride to Cabbagetown for last night's celebration of the new, Ikea designed Atlanta Bicycle Coalition headquarters. Your experiences as 'roll models' would distinguish Atlanta Bicycle Chic from the street fashion blog. In the spirit of advocacy, let's suspend anonymity and go deeper than outfit details to explore our common goal of developing a happier, safer cycling culture. Interested? Email me.

In Piedmont Park: A Thrift Score

Some people just have a knack for thrifting. It helps to enjoy the chase. Yes, some gorgeous items may not be one's size and other days yield nothing at all, but finding such a geometric print in Santa Cruz is a cause for celebration. Have you a favorite story from the hunt for vintage goodness?

On The Road: Bike Share In Chattanooga

Yes, it was a warm day to try Bike Chattanooga, but I'll ride again any time. Three hundred bikes at thirty stations and a superb network of trails ensure its popularity. Please follow this link to read about plans for Atlanta-Decatur Bike Share.

At The NAWBO June Luncheon

Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead is Facebook COO Cheryl Sandberg's treatise on how to expand the presence of women decision makers in all walks of life. Her TED Talk, "Why we have too few women leaders" has been viewed more than 2.5 million times. The conversation continues in her non-profit network and inspired the Atlanta NAWBO chapter to assemble a panel to discuss these issues at their June luncheon. If such thought provoking exchanges and business networking appeal to you, consider the many benefits of membership in the National Association Of Women Business Owners.
