Sabbatical
Dear readers,
The time has come for me to pause from the whirl of daily blogging for some well earned rest. Unplugged it will be: a week without Facebook, Flickr, Google Analytics, or Twitter. Oh, what will we do with ourselves? It's been a while since our escape last summer to revisit familiar haunts in Washington, DC and Maryland. This year, the old world beckons us to Paris and Amsterdam. Yes, I plan to ride a Dutch bicycle in the Netherlands and see the Seine from a boat. While a backlog of portraits combined with the wonders of automation might keep up appearances, missing would be my constant attention to the minutia of blogging, the very reason this holiday has become so necessary. Another Atlantan in a similar pickle is bound for The London Tweed Run. Now there will be a story. Look for all this and more great street style after we return.

Button Flowers By Phlox
Just in time for Easter, a fresh crop of button flower bouquets await your selection at Wild Oats And Billy Goats in Decatur.
No two are alike and all are vintage, thoughtfully stacked and grouped. Stems are genuine floral wire and tape, of course. They cannot wilt, even in Georgia summers, and never require water. Yes, this post is sponsored. My wonderful wife makes them and fortunate will be their new homes. Crafty and designing folk take note: if you would like to reach burgeoning, stylish audience,
let's talk about putting your creations on Atlanta Street Fashion.

Abbey Glass At W Hotel
As the site of such fashionable soirées as Sunglasses At Night,
It's So Miami In Atlanta and the CFDA Fashion Incubator, W Hotel in Buckhead is the place to see and be seen. Last night its spotlight fell upon Atlanta designer Abbey Glass, whose fall/winter 2013 collection debuted to great enthusiasm. These are but a few looks from the crowd and runway. Many more may be seen on facebook.

Savannah Cycling, Part II
Redbook is not the only magazine to feature my photography this season. The spring issue of Momentum takes a look at cycling in Georgia's first city, Savannah. Such an assignment I could not refuse. First imagined by General Oglethorpe for agriculture, commerce and defense, the network of traffic-calming squares conspires with a balmy climate and flat terrain to make the town a cyclists' paradise 280 years on. Everyone rides and few bother with helmets. For two lovely December days, I was one of them.

At Steady Hand Pour House
What Shakespeare called the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune have struck Steady Hand Pour House. After a brilliant two years in Emory Village, the coffee shop must find new digs. Jordan Chambers, Dale Donchey, Jamie Pair, their crew and stylish clientele have been good friends of this blog. Anyone with idea for where they might relocate is welcome to leave word on their facebook wall. In the mean time, visit as often as you can. I will.

There was a time I would post whatever the day found, be they five en masse or none at all. Once daily has become the preferred rhythm and while I try to keep things in chronological order, timely entries that coordinate with larger efforts or return thanks for party invitations often take precedence. The resulting backlog of portraits has become what she described as "an embarrassment of riches", when told that a week might pass before publication. What neither of us anticipated is that hers would become Atlanta Street Fashion's 1000th posting.

At Billy Reid
Jaunty nautical stripes are all over the new Billy Reid collections, which were celebrated last night at the shop in White Provisions. American Spirit mixed a Wiregrass cocktail of their whiskey, tea and bitter lemon. Taqueria del Sol cooked these blue cornmeal cakes on the spot, then topped them with a Yucatan-style pork barbeque that had been smoked while wrapped in banana leaves. Birmingham's Duquette Johnston and Atlantan Tedo Stone provided a feast for our ears. Here are but a few looks from the stylish crowd, which lent its own charms to the evening. Enjoy!
