Another street fashion blogger agreed with me: even at a distance, the stylish stand apart from the crowd, so often our challenge lies in closing that gap. Running these gentlemen to earth was no easy feat. They were making haste southward, so it was necessary for me first to turn the car around in rush hour traffic, then overtake them while observing the three foot rule (not yet law in Georgia) and at last find a parking space near the hoped-for rendezvous at the bike rack outside of Octane. Aren't you glad that the plan worked?
Friday's steady downpour postponed this week's Beltline walk one day for the trail to dry. We gathered at the West End MARTA for the four hour trek to the Bankhead station.
What dawned as a chilly Sunday warmed rapidly while we explored the underpinnings of our city, an old rail junction all grown up. At times the trail was all our own, hastening the spring season.
Other sections we shared with a passing freight or with Abraham, who lives in a tree fort built by the Mad Housers of Georgia Tech.
As ever, the photo ops were stunning and the footing, at times, precarious.
Next Saturday's excursion covers the northwest corridor from Bankhead to the Lindbergh MARTA.
Just as our Neanderthal ancestors kept warm in animal hides, this denizen of the Old Fouth Ward skinned a thrifted teddy bear to add a cozy layer to the winter hat. "I got the boots from Underground Atlanta and cut up a sweater," she said of her crafty footwear. "It's all free-range, local and organic."
Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. Coco Chanel
