In Oakland Cemetery: Un Peu d'Histoire

Oakland Cemetery inspires many people and on a recent visit there I found photographer Elliot Liss working with Kayleen Scott for his marvelous series of people in foliage. See what they made here and here. In fact, I took the plunge myself and have a new facebook profile picture to thank for it. Elliot first appeared on Atlanta Bicycle Chic two years ago in this posting, which went on to get ink in Momentum Magazine. Kayleen spared me a moment of her day and this gothic mood for you.

Bike Stylish

About Bike Stylish Bike Stylish - Google Chrome 10312014 102132 AM.bmp
Inspiring you to ditch your car & Bike Stylish, Colorado bloggers Jeanne Eisenhaure and Tanya Dueri know the value of collaboration in their advocacy for cycling. Their offer to share with a wider audience what we are doing in Atlanta proved irresistible and became this re-posting of Roll Model Ann Shen.

Clothes, Cameras & Coffee is an acclaimed blog of Oxonian Rosalind Jana. Those fashionable staples also form the raison d'ĂȘtre for Henry & June, a new boutique at 784 North Highland Avenue, which invites all to celebrate its opening tonight between 7 and 10pm. The principals are long-time friends of Atlanta Street Fashion who live as Henry Miller wrote: "Whatever there be of progress in life comes not through adaptation but through daring."

Wednesday Link Love

IMG_1802
Reading other people's blogs can be an occupational hazard. So easy is it to get drawn into the web that hours somehow evaporate, uncounted. This happened to me last Friday while reading Asian Cajuns. Cath and Lar posted some link love for a few of their favorite distractions destinations. We bloggers are a generous lot and to follow their example, here is the first installment of mine. Let them lead the way.

That such media stars noticed my efforts (They even gave me beer!) early in the going was valuable approbation. “Twin Sisters Blogging An Ocean Apart” is how today they describe their delightful musings on lifestyles in Atlanta and Edinburgh. I once spent a day in the Scottish capital and found it difficult to leave. Now I can return just by clicking a mouse.

Author of another Best Of Atlanta choice, Jess Smith won her Atlanta Magazine prize in 2010 for blogging as Lady Flashback. From great outfits to DIY projects, Smith keeps it interesting. Her nightlife reportage is rooted in organizing the fun herself. I gratefully acknowledge that her first appearance on my blogs went viral in the then burgeoning world of cycle chic.
Nashville Bicycling

Long at the nexus of personal fashion blogging and bicycle commuting, Let’s Go Ride A Bike has emerged as North America’s leading voice for cycling advocacy, something for which all who ride may be thankful. These ladies should have bike lanes named for them. Dottie in Chicago and Trisha in Nashville share their experiences, both joyful and challenging, of daily life on two wheels. While written for women, LGRAB gets a surprising number of comments from men. Such is the strength of community.

WAC AVE STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

While the blogs Sartorialist and Facehunter display a world travelogue of great looks to those of us who cannot be everywhere, stylish Atlantans should know of a new street fashion blog flourishing a mere two hours up Interstate 85. Anyone traveling to Greenville, South Carolina for the holidays had best bring her/his a-game because Furman student William Crooks is looking for you. As The Guy Behind The Lens, he has been celebrating fashion outliers of The Upstate since June and they are lucky to have him. WAC AVE STREET PHOTOGRAPHY shows his natural talent for spotting original looks and showing them to advantage. Hear, hear!
