Saturday In Marietta: Act II
This lady kindly allowed us our first portraits of the morning. The early sun was dodging clouds and gave a lesson in the subtleties of illumination. My preference is for gentle side lighting, which shows textures to advantage. Compare such an effect to that of diffused lighting here. The railroad leads nicely to a vanishing point and the low angle brings her height to meet the treetops. Heroic posing, indeed.

Saturday In Marietta: Act I
Atlanta Street Fashion has an intern. Meet Ashley, a rising high school senior who lives in Northwestern metropolitan Atlanta and is a fan of this 'blog. A life long interest in the business of fashion is reflected in theme of her senior project. Yes, she is building a portfolio of real life photography and reached out to me for mentorship. For our first style safari we met in Marietta, the site of a vibrant town square and its artists' and farmers' market. After coffee with her mother at Cool Beans, we took to the streets. These are the first souvenirs of that morning.

At Condesa: A Blogging Summit
A clever elision of the noun 'millennial' and the French pronoun elle, millennielle by Coco Bassey is a compendium of "fashion, travel, DIY projects, music and homemaking" says she. These tastes are informed by a worldliness born of living in Europe, North America and Africa. Thank you, Coco, for sharing the adventure.

Bastille Day At Paris On Ponce This Weekend
Just in time for me to sell this Bastille Day at Paris On Ponce,
Leigh has arranged a fresh crop of colorful button flower bouquets. No two are alike and all are vintage, thoughtfully stacked and grouped. Stems are genuine floral wire and tape, of course. They cannot wilt, even in Georgia summers, and never require water. Under the name Phlox, she co-edits with Cathy Camper that compendium of weird candy, Sugarneedle, and may be found this weekend at Eyedrum for the Atlanta 'Zine Fest.

Giving To Gain
Roberta and I met at Pints For Parks, when I served on the host committee for that Park Pride fundraiser. With my Kavarna show date looming, I was need of a memorable graphic. One idea begat another and we agreed to a service swap: her design skill in return for mine in portraiture. Thank you, Roberta for giving the blog's fifth anniversary such a lovely statement. The exhibition continues through the end of this month at 707 East Lake Drive in Decatur.

Keeping Cool In Old Fourth Ward
Why does the expression 'hotter than July in Georgia' spring so readily to mind? These people met the challenge in fine style. Seen dining al fresco at Highland Bakery, they were happy to share their savoir faire.
