At MODA: Design For Social Impact

While MODA's trio of MakerBot 3-D printers continue to dazzle us with visions of a diy future, a new exhibition, Design For Social Impact, celebrates solutions to more fundamental, humanitarian design challenges. Nearby in Clarkston, Georgia, less waste and more jobs are the results of Billboard Bags, an initiative to employ refugees in the production of chic carryall bags made from upcycled billboards and coffee sacks. In distant Johannesburg, South Africa, the quest for an improved method of water storage and transportation became the Hippo Roller.
