Atlanta artist Britt Bass found just the kimono to complement her summery palette of paintings now on display in Westside Provisions District. Her necklace is the work of Mary Kelly Clary and shoes are from Billy Reid, of course.

The Westside Provisions Design Week called its opening party
A Really Good Strut and that it was. Atlanta fashionistas were treated to a runway show on the WSPD bridge and afterward,
all the shops welcomed them. Meeting Nashville designer
Kayce Hughes was a pleasure. An extravagant raffle of treats
and treasures benefitted The Ovarian Cancer Institute.
Design Week events will continue through the 13th.

Jaunty nautical stripes are all over the new Billy Reid collections, which were celebrated last night at the shop in White Provisions. American Spirit mixed a Wiregrass cocktail of their whiskey, tea and bitter lemon. Taqueria del Sol cooked these blue cornmeal cakes on the spot, then topped them with a Yucatan-style pork barbeque that had been smoked while wrapped in banana leaves. Birmingham's Duquette Johnston and Atlantan Tedo Stone provided a feast for our ears. Here are but a few looks from the stylish crowd, which lent its own charms to the evening. Enjoy!

"Not every trunk show looks like this," remarked Natalie Chanin between gospel songs by the famed Gee's Bend quilters. Call it a Southern thing. She fosters a cottage industry that strengthens the very culture from which she draws inspiration for the lifestyle company, Alabama Chanin. The latest in her trademark stitchery is on view today and tomorrow at Billy Reid, 1170 Howell Mill Rd.

Keeping Cool In Little Five Points

romper and belt: Salvation Army, Key West
shoes: Banana Republic
sunnies: Urban Outfitters
parasol: Virginia-Highland boutique

Parasols make a lot of sense in our southern climate, not to mention their allure. Don't wilt in the heat. Cover your heads. Brian Hadden of A Thrift Life found admirable millinery and haberdashery at the Decatur Arts Festival. Use sunscreen and stay hydrated. Lateley I've been offered bottled water in Billy Reid and 310 Rosemont. Thanks for being so thoughtful.
