Street Scene: Hommage to Chanel
Lydia Walls' icons of 100 Southerners was part of the exhibition 4x4 last spring at the Barbara Archer Gallery. Her quirky selection of regional notables ran the gamut from Louis Armstrong to Zelda Fitzgerald. Seen altogether, they made a charming regional quilt. She was painting the one of Woodrow Wilson when we met in the much-missed Aurora coffee shop on North Highland Avenue and when this Coco Chanel portrait appeared recently on her Facebook, I asked that she make another fashion blog appearance. Further hommage to Chanel shows in her choice of brooch and shoes. Click over to Walls' Etsy and you, too, may be smitten or even wish to commission something personal.

The Indie Craft Experience and this blog go way back, so it pleases me to help spread the word about a special competition at their forthcoming event, Salvage. Bring your best vintage ensemble, dress a mannequin and attendees will chose their favorite. Registration closes on Sunday, so click over to Salvage to reserve your chance to shine and perhaps win $100.

The 2013 Seersucker Social
We eighty cyclists made merry on Saturday afternoon. Our infectious spirit was seen and heard from Old Fourth Ward to Oakland Cemetery. At the picnic, Justin recalled meeting Nikki at the very first Seersucker Social four years ago and offered her a token of his affection. She said yes.

In Howell Mill Road: Geek Chic
From across the street, her GAP dress might have been polka dotted. Cups and saucers appeared as we closed the distance to introduce ourselves outside of Octane. Apropos, we agreed.
"Blogger? I'm a coder. We teach html," said she.
"Embedding html is the only way I know of keeping the image widths uniform. That's important to a scrolling medium," I replied.
Gentle readers, please meet Betsy Hauser of Tech Talent South.

At The Apparel Mart: Judith March
From the gulf coast town of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida comes an original line of clothing "inspired by the feminine and bohemian styles of yesterday". Her embroidered bicycle brings to mind lazy summer days seaside, icecream and salt air, sand and sunscreen.
