Of Bicycles And Airstream Trailers, Part I
The search for a portrait setting at the Heels On Wheels ride today found this vintage Airstream trailer, the travelling home of Small Room Collective. Lauren and Travis have brought their treasures to Church Street, Decatur for the weekend. Look for them next to the Victory Sandwich Shop. The graphic on the trailer's number plate is not wishful thinking. It commemorates French racing cyclist Alfred LeTourneur, who towed an Airstream trailer at Metropolitan Airport in Van Nuys, California in 1947.

The Heels On Wheels hiatus ends Saturday morning at ten o'clock, when cyclists will gather at Houndstooth Road in Decatur. Say ride organizers, "Suggested dress is 'bike fancy' though heels are optional." Please look to their facebook page for more information.

Street Scene: Her Ride To Work
The month of May is themed all things bicycle. Today we ride with Mayor Reed from City Hall to Piedmont Park and next Saturday, the much missed Heels on Wheels resumes with a tour of Decatur.

At The Green Market
Those delicate leaves edged in purple are Russian kale. Soft and supple, this variety of the popular and nutritious leaf has spoiled me for the others. Thank you, Skylight Farm, for bringing such sweetness to the Saturday Green Market in Piedmont Park.

A Win For Everyone
Michelle Nunn has spent a lifetime in volunteer service. Through Hands On, City Cares and Points Of Light, this lady knows how to bring out the best in people. Last Saturday she organized a day of improvements to Perkerson Elementary School in which I participated. Please follow this link to a video made by Diana Bowen of our transformational efforts. Nunn's belief that Washington can learn much from Georgia is the keynote of her senatorial campaign. Here are some scenes and great looks from the primary election victory party Tuesday.

Street Scene: Moreland Avenue
Seen once before, her style harkens to Atlanta of the previous century. She curtsied when we parted ways. Saturday's ensemble featured a thrifted dress, Pervian necklace and millinery from Bertha Louise Designs.

Atlanta Streets Alive
As if on cue, a shower fell at the two o'clock starting hour. Just as quickly, it passed and while far from dry, the climate could not dampen our spirits. Atlanta Streets Alive is a service of the
Atlanta Bicycle Coalition.

Cyclofemme 2014
The noble sentiment, Never Give Up, here realized by Living Walls muralist Eme, gains a poignant dimension this damp morning of Streets Alive. While Cyclofemme riders enjoyed clear skies last Sunday for their tour East Atlanta and Kirkwood, Peachtree Street is ours today, rain or shine. See you there!
