The Atlanta Regional Commission announced its 16th annual 'Developments of Excellence' awards last Friday, citing Oakland Cemetery as the Great Place for 2014. Piedmont Park was last year's winner of the prize, which honors places, streets, communities, neighborhoods, civic spaces or parks that contribute to the Atlanta region’s character and provide choices for where and how people work and live. Great Places are enjoyable, safe and desirable and can serve as regional models for future growth.-ARC
