Helmets aren't cycle chic anymore than steel-toed boots are 'construction chic' or lifevests are 'beach chic'. And I'd question the wisdom of promoting not only helmets but also fabric-covered helmets, the latter being regarded as quite dangerous.
If wearing a helmet gives her the courage to mix with Atlanta's mean traffic, then more power to her. Some are lucky to ride in more favorable conditions.
