The drawing is her own and came from the first Vintage Soirée. That our paths should cross again at Ladyfest comes as no surprise, given the array of talents on display last weekend.

Aren't you loving what all this rain has brought into bloom here in Atlanta? Now that the warm days are seeing more people out and about, I've gone from posting retrospectives to having an abundance of portraits in the queue. Please bear with me. You are not forgotten.

Last Sunday the Ladyfest organizers gave central Atlanta a good look at things to come when a cheerful crowd took to the streets in search of fun and the four venues. While the Broad Street Visitors' Center, Eyedrum and Mammal Gallery are downtown neighbors, The Big House On Ponce lies some three miles further afield in Midtown. Therefore bike trains are planned for Saturday and Sunday. Ride leaders will wear Mardi Gras beads and may be found departing from Mammal at 1:45 pm Saturday and returning from the Big House at 8 pm. Sunday there will be one ride from Big House to Mammal at 3:45 pm. Look to the Ladyfest facebook page for the complete schedule.
correction: Sunday's performance by Celli takes place in Mammal Gallery at 4:30 pm

Celli performed at the Decatur Book Festival last year where I was smitten by their range. These ladies lend classical stylings to pop songs, play the greats with verve and have plenty of their own to say. Jessica Messere and Nan Kemberling will perform Sunday at 4:30 pm in The Mammal Gallery. Rsvp on facebook.

Her Prada shoes were a lucky thrift score and "the jacket was the last thing I bought new, back in 2006." The rest is work. She made the dress and backpack, which hides its zipper when worn. "I learned that from riding trains in New York."

Ladyfest Atlanta takes place this weekend at the Big House On Ponce, Eyedrum and Mammal Gallery. Say the organizers, "There is no shortage of women, trans and gender non-conforming people doing impressive and important things all over this city...It is intended to be a political event as well as a community-centered arts and music event." Longtime friends of this blog at the Candler Park Market are catering the events and sporting the hashtag #delibabes. See you there!

Resumé

Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.
