Shouldn't Halloween always fall on a weekend?

Fans of the blog may remember an earlier visit with this aspiring environmental engineer, who kindly lent me an hour of her day for a trackside photo op. CSX obliged us with a passing train and the science of recycling results in ecofelt, crafted here into purple flowers by Rebekah McCallie of Owl Eyes.

Now in its third year, Poor Little Rich Girl in College Park has weathered the economic storm to bring vintage chic to the southside. This labor of love has caught the eye of savvy Woodward students and locals alike. Guys should check out the selection of dinner jackets and neckwear.

Autumn days like this are best celebrated al fresco. Vespas appeared twice on The Chattanoogan for the style and practicality they lend to urban life.

He called the collar ornament a button cover. From a houndstooth fedora to those suede loafers, his look lends style to a day's work.

Here's a cheerful mashup of Target finds. While her plaid shirt came from the little boy's department, those dots could only be from the lady's collection. Lucky was she to have been given the scarf. Bass saddle oxfords add a timesless signature.

Autumn temperatures arrived just in time for the comfort of those whose elaborate Victorian costumes celebrated Oakland Cemetery's 31st Sunday in the Park. While there was a competition, many dressed to please themselves and lent their festive presences without taking to the catwalk. Thanks for a lovely afternoon of style and history in the heart of Atlanta.

In Poncey-Highland

Synergy results from an effect being greater than the sum of its parts. Camper shoes anchor her black assemblage from nowhere in particular, while the crown of white provides contrasting relief. Betsy Johnson sunnies add well earned glamour to the mix. It's not what she wears but how she wears it.

When bicycles bore baskets and cars rocked tailfins, designers like Emilio Pucci toyed with geometry in the colors of Aquarius. Whether you favor a floral print by Trina Turk or the structured elegance that could only be Bill Blass, the ladies of Factory Frocks invite you to play dress up this weekend. Their extensive collection of twentieth century couture clothing complements the Antique Factory's 8000 square feet of home furnishings, art and Americana from those years.

Autumn In Roswell

Mall shoppers know boutiques, but she thrifted the BCBG dress and quilted slippers. "The Goodwill in Roswell is fantastic. People donate stuff worn once or not at all. You never know what you'll find. It's like a treasure hunt every time I go." Yes, successful thrifting requires a love of the chase and even though some appealing items may not be one's size, the ones that are aways boast great backstories. How about "I found a Betsy Johnson dress at Goodwill"? She did and it fit.

Un Peu D'Histoire

Back in the day of film photography and Atlanta 30305 & 30306, several of my street pictures of Virginia-Highland were published in the "Scenes of" feature. At their Flatiron Building offices downtown, one of my prints was scanned-right before my eyes-thereby introducing me to the digital media age. Those papers are now Atlanta INtown and our association resumes this month with selected postings from this blog. Check it out on page sixteen. Look for more shopping advice from the stylish both here and in print. Thanks, Wendy and Collin, for giving me this forum.
